In a sleeve test, either

• all sleeves in a pipeline are tested individually,
• some sleeves through the entire pipeline are checked randomly or
• all sleeves in a range in which a leak is suspected (eg: after landslides, etc.) are checked

The sleeve test is therefore useful, because it saves you a costly leak detection.
